In addition to traditional talk therapy, I offer the following types of therapy:
EMDR. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured, evidence-based approach to healing from trauma, anxiety, grief, or other difficult experiences. Many individuals who have either found talk-therapy to be minimally effective or have hit a wall in their therapeutic progress have found EMDR to help catalyze their healing process by working directly with the impacts of trauma on the body and mental functioning. EMDR uses elements of many effective psychotherapies including psycho-dynamic, cognitive behavioral, interpersonal, experiential, and body-centered therapies. It combines these elements into structured protocols that are designed to maximize treatment effects by targeting specific triggers. For more information about EMDR, please visit the EMDR International Association.
Couples/Relationship Therapy. Often partners reach points in their relationship where they get stuck, feel disconnected, or have a hard time finding solutions to problems as a team. Other times a partnership may experience a significant disturbance such as a major loss, illness, trauma, infidelity, financial strain, or move to a new location. Relationship therapy can assist the family in accessing their strengths and resources, improving communication, and fostering trust and intimacy. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I have extensive training in treating relationship issues. I am a CNM/Polyamory affirming provider.
Sex Therapy. Sex therapy is an excellent resource for partners or individuals who are struggling with some aspect of their sexual lives. Some topics that can be addressed in sex therapy include experiences of infidelity, the impacts of fertility problems on sex, healing from sexual trauma, learning to communicate about desires, opening up a relationship/ navigating non-monogamy, or simply wanting to revitalize your sex life in a long-term relationship.
LGBTQQIA2+ Counseling. As a member of the queer community, I am dedicated to supporting all individuals of marginalized identities. I have training in WPATH Standars of Care (SOC7) and supporting individuals with transgender experiences.
Video Counseling sessions are available for individuals living within the states of New York and Oregon. All you need is a private place and a device with a microphone and camera. This is a great option for folks who aren't able to meet in person at my office in Rochester.
Consultation. D provides consultation and training to professionals wishing to build their skills in providing culturally competent care to LGBTQIA2+ clients. D is able to supervise New York state residents working toward MFT licensure. Please contact for more information about consultation and trainings.
