Hi! I am so delighted you found my website. I have been working in the mental health field for nearly a decade and it is my greatest honor to witness clients' growth and journeys. It was my own experiences of growing up in an alcoholic home, struggling with mental health, and coming out as queer that led me to this work. For this reason, I am passionate about supporting individuals and families in living their best lives.
Below is a little about my professional training and experience:
Formal Education and Training. I have a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and Expressive Arts Therapy from the California Institute of Integral Studies. I am trained and licensed to provide both individual and couples psychotherapy. In addition, I have post-graduate training in gender-identity counseling, EMDR, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Emotionally-Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), Sex Therapy, the Trauma Recovery and Empowerment Model (TREM), and addictions counseling. I receive on-going sex therapy supervision from Samantha Manewitz, LICSW, CST-S.
Experience. I have worked in a variety of settings including outpatient services, college counseling, residential treatment, and community-based programs in the states of California, Oregon, and New York. My experience has been focused on working with young people and adults living with challenges such as mental illness, work stress, difficulties in relationships, living with Aspergers, addiction issues, grief and loss, trauma, coming out as LGBTQQIA2+, self-harm, depression, anxiety, and issues impacted by gender, race, culture, sexuality, and identity. License. I am currently licensed under my legal name, Lydia Dean Seright, as a Marriage and Family Therapist in the states of New York (#001488) and Oregon (#T1013) and am certified as a Master Addiction Counselor (#512049) with NCC AP.
